The last week or so I've been editing a friend's script. It's a fantastic monster/horror flick, really low budget, with fantastic characters and a superbly thought out plot. So why have I poked my nose in?

All I've done is tighten the action, which did ramble on a bit, and worked on the dialogue, so each of the characters sound genuine. On occasion it was difficult to tell who was speaking, but with a little bit of fiddling it has now (mostly) been sorted.

As for my own stuff... Jump is now complete and with a director. Gnome still hasn't found a home so I might just enter it into the BSSC 2008.

Next up is work on the pilot episode outline for Second Skin. Oh, and a DVD dropped on my hall mat from Norway...WOO HOO!!!!! I'll add it to the website when I figure out how to do it.

D-Day

Today I'm going to find out if Goodbye will actually be made. To be honest it doesn't look good, but then again I can offer it to someone else to make. The waiting for things to happen is a killer.

The Writing Merry-go-round

Wednesday, May 21, 2008

So Static Films dropped their interest in The Dead Side Of Life and now it looks like the actor who was going to shoot Goodbye is also going to pull out. I am very disappointed.

Don't get me wrong I know these things happen, it's just a little disheartening when they do.

But where one door closes another opens. A feature script possibility has come to light and I also have someone interested in Gnome. I've just got to keep plugging away.

There is Life Out There.

I've moved my usual monthly round up to my other blog so I can tell you all about the power of the web.

So far this year I have been contacted by three producers with potential projects for me. All found my website while doing a web search and they contacted me via email. Two of these projects didn't pan out, the third might not either, but it's still early days. The point is producers are actively searching the web for new writing talent. If you're not out there constantly updating, they won't be contacting you. It's exposure of the good kind, one you can't get arrested for. Enjoy!

Give A Gnome A Home

Thursday, April 24, 2008

My brand new ten minute short Gnome is complete, I'll give it a week or so and then polish it like mad before sticking it on Shooting People.

Another ten minute idea has sprung to mind and will be my next project. This one will be entitled Jump.

I've printed off a few copies of Buddha Of Birmingham in readiness to send out next week. I have high hopes for this polished script.

My good friend Arne Reidar Mortensen has made a valuable contact for me. AGN was shown to an American producer of drama documentaries who loved it and is now interested in working with me. It's good to know my work is now starting to pay off.

AGN has its premier on the 2nd May at the Sports Bar in Stavanger, Norway, so please drop by if you're in the area. Loads of press and media types have been invited and then the plan is to enter the film into Norway's top film festival. Fantastic news.

Moving On Up

AGN is complete and is having a press release on the 2nd May 2008. The cinema showings will follow soon after. When I get the DVD I'll put it up on line, so you had all better brush up on your Norwegian.

Goodbye should start shooting in a couple of weeks if nothing goes pear shaped.

I've entered the BBC Comedy Collage with the first ten pages of Buddha Of Birmingham. I have high hopes for this one.
